Michael Jacobus has tendered his resignation as CEO of local ICT business solutions service provider AL Indigo.
Michael has held this position for 5 years and has decided to pursue other interests outside of the organisation.
AL Indigo will, in the meanwhile, be in the professional hands of the Non-Executive Director of the AL Indigo board, Mallele Petje who will be acting CEO assisted bythe general managers of the four divisions namely business service management; service oriented architecture for enterprise; infrastructure solutions and supply chain: task management and mobility solutions.
Mallele, who is currently the group CEO of Muelekanyi Investment Holdings, comes with public sector and solid strategic executive experience as the former Superintendent-General of Education and Director-General in Gauteng Province.
Says Mashudu Tshivhase Executive Chairman of African Legend Indigo, “I am confident that Mallele Petje and the general managers will be able to provide the business generally and divisions specifically, with good strategic direction and drive. Our customers and partners are in good hands, and the business is poised for growth.”
“One of the key events during 2009 was the announcement that African Legend Computing bought Datatec’s 55% stake in our organisation and brought its shareholding up to 100%. That means that we are now a fully owned black economic empowerment business enterprise, and with our strategic relationships with key vendors, we are now looking to expand our business throughout Africa as well as in South Africa.” Says Petje.
AL Indigo is one of Oracle’s largest partners in South Africa – particularly for its middleware product range, acquired from BEA Systems. It is also one of the largest resellers for Sun Microsystems in Africa, measured both by the number of qualified Sun technicians it boasts and the revenues it generates from its Sun business. These partnerships are not mere reseller agreements – they are strategic partnerships that date back several years, and we have welcomed the Oracle / Sun merger since many of our clients like the idea of being able to work with one vendor in the form of Oracle and one solutions provider in the form of AL Indigo for most of their data centre needs.
The board of directors of AL Indigo is in the process of finalising the appointment of the new CEO and Financial Director as Manuela Torres, Financial director of AL Indigo who has been working closely with Michael Jacobus for the past three years will also be leaving the company. Positivity prevails as the board believes that there are sufficient highly qualified candidates to take the organisation into the next phase of its growth.
