History

AL Indigo was established in 2000 with a vision of creating a major black-owned ICT solutions provider to service the enterprise market in South Africa and the rest of the continent. The company quickly grew into a significant and profitable player in the ICT market through organic growth and a series of targeted acquisitions.

The companies that now form part of the group – including the businesses formerly known as Safika-BEA, RangeGate and MGX Enterprise Solutions – all brought with them substantial skills sets, happy customer bases, and alliances with key ICT vendors.

JSE-listed Datatec took a 55% stake in AL Indigo in 2006 and merged most of its South African businesses, including RangeGate, with the group. Datatec sold its 55% stake in AL Indigo back to African Legend Computing (ALC) in 2009, since it wanted to focus its resources on growing its core global distribution businesses.

The Datatec divestment has provided AL Indigo with the funding and independence to pursue our growth strategy for Africa over the next few years. We move into the future with a strong base of clients, a track record of financial stability, and a stable shareholder in the form of African Legend Computing.
